Welcome ! Crush sleeves are one time use items, so yes, you need a new one among other things. If you don't know how to set backlash, I would suggest doing some in-depth research before you attempt this procedure. Read through this article for some general guidelines and an ideal of the necessary tools and parts: www.ring-pinion.com/downloads/yukoninstman.pdf

You're Welcome ! Good luck with your installation, although you'll probably want to double-check your backlash figure.

Ford recommends between 0.010 and 0.018 inch backlash between gears with ideal backlash at about 0.012 inch. Also, you can't just reuse the pinion shims from the old gearset. Pinion depth will have to be altered as well. I recommend finding someone with some knowledge of gear replacement for help. You don't want to read an article and then replace your ring and pinion.

Lightbulb

YA I work with gear drives pinion hieght is always critical but we have all sizes of pinion hieght gauges if you will but fot this app I am not going to buy the tool for it. Probably 1000$. for the tool.
What i needed from the artical is the pinion track for hieght, it the only way without the tool. But the old shims for a reference is always the norm.
Thanks.
