I'am having problems with my 1993 F150 electronic four wheel drive engaging. My tires are locking up when I engage four wheel drive or just turn the hubs to the locked position without being in fourwheel drive. It seems to be the (left hand) axle locking up, so today I replaced the universal joint and the spindle bearing and that didnt solve the problem. Does anybody know of a similiar problem or know what is wrong?

I guess the problem would have to exist somewhere between the front differential and the transfercase?
I also replaced the automatic hubs, since I thought that one of the hubs had gone bad and was locking the axle up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Does the truck not move when engaged in 4x4? Can you raise the front wheels, lock the hubs and turn the front shaft to make the tires turn while in two wheel drive? Can you turn the front driveshaft at all?
