Question What should my gear ratio be for 35 in tires?

I have a 95 f-150 ex-cab with a 6 inch lift and 35inch tires. I have lots of power with my 5.0 v8 engine, but my overdrive has no power. I have receintly been informed that i could change my back differential ratio to gain more torque and get better gas mileage. What ratio should my back differential be changed to with 35 inch tires?

a lot of that depends on what your stock gearing is if you want to get a real close equivilent to get your tranny reading the proper speed on the speedometer. If you do not have a problem with changing the little gear inside tranny for your speedometer I would go with 4.56's. That is what i did with my 01' and all i have is a 4.6.

I did have the same set-up in my 1992 with a 6 inch lift and 35 inch tires. I would recommend 4.56 gears since they put the rpms at about 2500 rpms at 70 mph. When you do the front your going to need a new carrier for the ring gear, it's fairly cheap and any reputable company knows what you need and will sell one to you.
