Looking for some parts
I was just wondering if anyone on here who has switched your rear-end gear ratio, has any 8.8 inch 3.73 or 3.55 gears that they don't need any more. I am ok with getting used ones, so long as they don't have thousands and thousands of miles on them.
I currently have the measley 3.08 which got worse when I but larger tires on the truck (only a 5% increas in tire circumference, but a huge difference in the way my truck drives) and I can barely make it up some hills. I mainly drive on the street, and love the fact that I got consistantly between 19 and 20 mpg on highway drives before the new tires. I did think that it shifted too much with the old tires though.
I am hoping that a 3.55 or 3.73 will keep me in the gas mileage that I wanted and help a bit to cut down shifting, my tranny is getting hot sometimes.
Thanks,
Mike

I have some 3.55 gears for an 8.8 rear and front end. I also have some 4.10 gears for an 8.8 REAR end only. Please e-mail me if you are interested. One more thing you might be interested in is a ford racing Torsion Locker out of an 8.8 rear end in a fx4 ranger. MSRP on the locker is 499.99 so it is a pretty good one. The locker and the 4.10 gears have about 10k miles and the 3.55s have around 70,000 but are in good shape.

Well,
Thanks for the reply, wish I would have gotten it sooner, I just changed out my 3.08s, I went with used OEM 3.73's that I bought from a guy that upgraded to 4.25. They only had about 4000 miles on them, and let me tell you, I have a new truck. I absolutely love them. I am still trying to figure out exactly how to correct my speedo on my 98. i think that it is a small gear in the tranny (I'll be researching this site for the info).
Thanks for the offer though, and Merry Christmas!
