Bent Driveline-Early $470 christmas present for me!

Well I just purchased my christmas present for this year. A new driveline! Was up in the mountains this weekend in about a foot of snow. Hard to see huge rocks and 3 foot deep ruts when everything's white. My mechanic actually hooked me up I think. He only charged me $60 for labor. The part was $410. I guess it could have been worse. I guess if you wanna play, eventually you're gonna pay.

Somebody please tell me i'm not the only one who bends drivelines and trashes other components that normally last for life. Is this about the going cost for replacing a driveline?

The money part sucks, but honestly I would rather be out having fun at a cost than staring at a shiny truck through the window sitting on a couch. Keep on driving boys and girls!

What sort of skid plates can I buy for a 1999 F-150 4x4 that will prevent this again in the future?

What's a "driveline?" Do you mean Dive Saft?

Theres not too many skidplates that will stop you from tearing up soemthing running over boulders.
