Front axle not pulling
Whoops!! I was reading the off road section with this window open and posted in the wrong section.
I have just acquired a 97 f350 4DR LWB 4X4 7.3. Its a cherry truck with 140k. With the truck in 4W, the front drive line spins, but the tires do not. I put it up on jack stands and nothing. I haven't torn into it yet, but plan on it this weekend. Does this year model have the gears in the hubs? I had a 79 that destroyed those quite often. I didnt hear any sounds that would indicate grinding. I hope its not the ring, pinion or spider gears.
This truck was used as payment from a client for legal services. I simply wanted to sell it. If I have to tear into it and fix it, I will, just thought I might pass this on and see if anyone has any ideas.
It has auto hubs.
