Squeaky Steering

Have noticed a number of concerns regarding squeaks when the steering wheel is moved back & forth. Just had the same problem on my 97 with 126,000 on it. I found it to be the pitman arm, but rather than repalce it I just greased it. The squeak went away in about a 1/2 a day after the grease was able to work itself in after a few miles of driving>Even though there are many joints that do not have grease fittings I have found that the needle type grease pin works very well in these situations. I just insert the needle into the rubber boot and fill it with grease. I have greased all the steering joints that do not have grease fittings and it seems to work very well. Though I would not do it so quickly on a new one, I think a vehicle with over 75,000 or so needs to get grease to those joints sooner or later>

Welcome ! Yes, this is a good idea and has been discussed here many times. I would cut the 75K in half.
