'98 F250 axle ident

Can anyone confirm which rear end? I have a 1998 F250 regular duty (like F150 heavy).

The markings on the tags says:
3 S-114G*
3 73 10 2 8D16

I know it's 3.73 gears, & it's a 12 bolt ring gear, but I'm not sure which model axle it is.

To my knowledge Ford only used the reverse cut 8.8 IFS axle in the F150 and the F250LD. The F250s just got heavier outters on them. The rear is the larger 10.5 axle instead of the 9.75, but the front should be the same as other F150s......I THINK.

Hey guys

The rear diff is Ford 10.25, the 10.5 is used in the superdutys. The 10.25 is very similar to the 9.75, but has a different axle spline count and of course a slightly larger ring gear. Yours is also an open differential(no limited slip).

The frt diff is just like powerstroke73 says, its a reverse rotation 8.8 and the F-150 and light duty 250 use the same one.

Yes, the 9.75" and 10.25" are 12-bolt covers. The parts don't interchange.
