F-150 8.8 vs Explorer 8.8 ?

Just bought a 1990 F-150 8.8 rear axle with 4.10's and a LS for a "project" rig... I've done a few searches here and googled it and still have a few ?
Besides the wider width and 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern, any other differences? They're both 31 spline correct?
Are the disc brakes off '95 up Explorers an easy swap? Same backing plate pattern?
I've found a ton of info on Explorer and Ranger 8.8's but not a lot on the F-150... any good links for diff tech?
Planning on welding tubes to housing, trussing the top and getting bearing cap support cover...
Gonna run LS until replaced with full Detroit, intention is to run 37" Goodyear MT/R's...
Stroked and Eaton M90 blown AMC 4.7 I-6 will be providing the HP/TQ... on a DD with occasional wheeling...
Suggestions? TIA
