Drive shaft question

This is probaby a dumb question, but i'm illiterate when it comes to mechanical stuff.

I have 04 SCAB which i bought about 3 weeks ago. I was putting on nerf bars today and noticed that the drive shaft looks completely rusted. I haven't been driving the truck hard at all because I'm trying to be real easy during the break in period.

Is this normal on a vehicle or could this be a problem. Nothing else under the truck look rusted.

Thanks,

It's perfectly normal for untreated steel parts to rust. Steel driveshafts rust and aluminum ones stay shiny.

it is normal fot it to rust, it will be no problem, i took mine off and sandblasted it lightly then painted it black, if you do this be sure to mark it to put it on exactly the same way or you could get driveline vibration
