Tuba sound under my hood

Did a quick search and came up with nothing remotely close. Lately, I get a bass horn sound from under my hood when I remove some pressure from the gas pedal. It seems that the sound only happens after the torque conver has locked as I dont hear the tuba under about 40MPH. Nothing seems to have changed, no codes, nothing. I have noticed that every once in awhile, it will seem like the trany is hunting when going into torque conver lock, and as soon as I let off on the gas, the torque convert lock OK.

I have a 2000 Lariat, 5.4, 3.55 gears (as near as I can tell), and just passed 70,000 miles.

Any ideas???

Thanx in advance

Larry

Sounds like the torque converter is going bad or it may just need a fluid change (with the rest of the tranny fluid). When was the last time you had it changed? Also, I "assume" you checked the fluid level?
