Manual Hubs and LS...

Well - I assumed (bad move) that all F150's would come with a LS standard. Turns out I have an open 3.55 front and rear. I would like to add a locker in the front and a solid LS in the rear (Auburn Pro or Eaton). I will also be upgrading the tires to 285's (33's). My question is this - are the auto hubs on the F150's strong enough to handle a locker? Is there a manual hub conversion kit available? Thanks for the help guys!

What year truck? This makes a huge difference on the answer. The 97+ F150s don't have hubs and front lockers will kill that axle. 80-96 F150s do have hubs and there is a manual hub conversion for them. There are also lockers available for the front of them, but keep in mind that lockers on an axle like that will tend to break axle shafts (I speak from experience on this one). Oversized tires and lockers on a steerable axle can be a bad combo breakage wise.

Good point - It's a '99, so it has the reverse rotation 8.8. I am familiar with the D44's, but not this axle. What limitations do I have?
