Angry Transmission Problem !

My Ford has had a hard life and it has never let me down. The truck has 65,000 miles on it. On saturday I took my travle trailer to work ,from my house about three miles to go over it so that there are less chances of problems on a long trip.
Then when I pulled out of my house with the trailer it felt like it lost power and it was in second gear. The slipping got worse so I checked the fluid and it went from red to black.
Now I know that I need a transmission. My question is, do I take it to a Ford Dealer or a transmission place for a H.D. upgrade transmission. I will not trade this truck in due to trans. problems like my Dodge (the best thing I ever did) 1/2 ton pick up.
Is the E4OD stock trans. replacement ok or purchase a H.D. trans at a local trans shop? This is dig money to put out so any help is appreciated.

If someone asked you that question, what would you advise them? Of course, get it done right and take it to a tranny dude'

Today I took it to a transmission shop and on the way there it ran fine! The fluid is black so he said to have the trans serviced and when he drops the pan that will tell him what is the problem.
