noise in drive train
97 F150 4.6 automatic 3.55 rear 4x2 mileage 31k At 15k an intermittent noise in drive train. When accelerating from stop, noise
"ERRRRUUP". May be heard twice in a row and not heard for 400 to 500 miles. It was believed rear brakes were sticking replaced at 28k. Please does any one have a similiar problem with a solution? Thanks!
Dennis There is no clunking at all. The noise
occurs when accelerating briskly and the humidity is high. The noise is coming from
the rear. I am unable to duplicate the noise
Ford did replace the rear brakes thinking the pads were grabbing the drum. When the transmission was serviced at 25k,the valve body was loose. An independent transmission shop was unable to locate any problems related to my noise. Thanks!

Frank, does this sound happen after you come to a quick stop and then accelerate away and it seems to come from the back of the truck? If so, it's the infamous "clunk." There's a TSB that any dealer should know about. It's well documented.
