4x4 help

I just bought a 1997 Ford F150 4x4. It did not come with an owner's manual. I am trying to figure out the procedure for
puting the truck into 4 wheel drive, do I have to stop and put it in
neutral or can i do it while i'm driving
it is an automatic and has the 4 wheel shift on the floor

You can shift from 2hi into 4hi on the go and you don't need to be in neutral or anything, but try not to shift any faster than 35mph. To go into neutral you need to have the transmission in neutral, and from there you can go into 4lo. To shift into N or 4lo you need to be completely stopped.

Owner's Manual

Just register your truck @

Go to resources and references on the left-hand side menu...you can download your entire manual in .pdf format for viewing. It's about 2.1MB.
