Loose rear end

Hello all,

I was doing my tire rotation and realized that my rear axle seems loose.
The wheels (axle) are loose when I push them towards the frame and pull them back at me. Is this normal? Is there suppose to be some loose in there? (there is no movement up or down nor from the front to the back)

Thanks for any help you can provide,
Stephane

I wouldnt worry about it, Chances are you are talking about a ford 8.8 diff. These use c-clips to hold in the axle shafts and there will always be a little slop in them. I have built many of these diffs up from the ground, and they all have slack this way. As long as they dont move up down side to side or pull completely out of the housing they are fine.
