Carrier question
I found a guy with a 8.8 3.73 LS out of a 91 explorer. I have an 01 with the 8.8 3.08 open. He wants an open carrier (I assume to put a locker in) and is willing to trade straight across. The only question I have is will this carrier fit into my truck?

Is your truck a F-150 or Explorer? If your truck is an F-150, be cautious of this swap or find out for sure if his Explorer has 28 or 31 spline 8.8".
F-150 should be 31 spline. Ranger with 8.8" (like mine) has 28 spline. I cannot confirm what spline on 91 Explorer.
Also, check the condition of the journals on his carrier (where the bearing presses on). If you can grasp the diff. side bearing and the inner cone will spin on the carrier, then his carrier is wasted.
If his carrier is 28 spline and good; you can dis-assemble it and have the axle spline ends drilled or bored to approx. 1.505" and install new side gears. Good luck, gearman
