Factory LS

Is the factory LS worth rebuilding? I have 92k on the clock and think she's toast. I'm not a big off roader but I'm EMS so I need good traction at bad times. All recomendations will be considered, and if a new one is what many of you think I want to stay in the $350-400 range for a new unit. The truck is a 97 150 4x4 8.8.
Thanks.

Yes it is worth rebuilding. The parts to rebuild the clutches the parts cost about $60. It is a simple job, and you can re-stack the clutches for increased "posi" action. As a bonus you won't have to worry about setting backlash and pinion depth, since you will reuse the original gear carrier and bearings. Several Mustang sites have info on this. www.corral.net use to have a very good article on this. I looked but could not find it today.
