Question decode rear-end tag

Can anyone help me decode the tag off the rear-end?

It reads like this

S828A

8 - 55 88 - 8M14

Thanks for any help.

Here you go.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ight=axle+code

You can also go to www.car-part.com and look for the rear end for your truck. It will give you a tag code to match up to your original. You have an 8.8 inch rear end with 3.55 gears.

If you have an 8.8 then you have a run of the mill F150. All the F250LD and F150 7700lb got the 10.25 which is a 7 lug pattern, where the 8.8 is a 5 lug pattern. The F250LD made in 97/98 is the same truck as the 99+ F150 7700lb, just different badging.
