Re: 99 Expedition When switching **** on dash to 4wd indicator light does not go on. It has worked off and on at times but when I need it won't. Also regardless of light you cannot hear solinoid engaging. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

So, it's not going into 4wd at all? If its not than i would say that maybe your automatic hubs might be out. Have you done any offroading , or maybe switching from reverse to drive quickly while it was engaged?

 

I read somewhere about a TSB for the transfer case motor not moving with the switch. The fix is a new motor.

Also, not to be obvious, but sometimes it is the obvious that we overlook. Check your fuses, I had the same problem on a Ranger and that is what it turned out to be.
