gears????

So I have a set of ford performance 4:10's for my rear 8.8, now I need a set for the front 8.8 ifs on my 99 F-150. I dont know what to order? Are these front gears reverse rotation units? or are they the same as the rear? Are all the bearings the same as the rear end or do i need to get differnt replacment ones for the Ifs? also how do the axle shafts come out of the ifs once i have it out of my truck? Does it have c-clips too? Thanks for the help.

Obviously the easiest way to answer this is to open it up and look at it. If my memory serves me right they are reverse rotation gears but you need to look on the ring gear to see if its stamped with RR just to make sure. The front I think also uses C-clips but thats just a swag. Also you're gonna most likely look to see how the center disconnect affects the gears (removed or not).

It is reverse rotation. I just had my gears done about a month or so ago, and I looked on the front R&P set and, yes, they are reverse rotation.

Thanks guys. I am going to order a set and get things rolling. one more question is how the ifs is disasembled? Once i take the diff, out of the truck, how do the axle shafts come out of the diff assembly? I have never opened it up so i am wondering if there is anything i should know before diving in. Thanks again.

Should be just a standard open carrier with spiders, cross pin, and c-clips. There is a differential support crossmember so that may have to be taken off as well. You'll have to look to see what needs to be taken out for the center disconnect.

Thanks guys. I was just wondering how the ifs was designed. I have done many gear swaps before so I hope I can handle this. I do have all the tools (ie, press, pullers, air tools, bearings, shims, crushsleeves....) and I do appreciate the advice on cautions i should take. I remeber the first time i tried it and it was not fun, but hey, since then It has been a snap Thanks again for your help.
