Exlplorer Sport Trac owner here! New member as well!

Hey guys!
I am new to the site(as a member) and just wanted to stick my head in and say hi! I drive a beautiful 2001 Oxford White Explorer Sport Trac. I love it to death! I am currently an active member of www.mysporttrac.com, and maybe someday own the new redesigned F-150. If you guys want to chat or just talk trucks(my brother owns a 99 f-50 4x4), we can and if you want to learn more about the Sport Trac and other helpful vehicle 'stuff', head on over to mysporttrac.com, anyway, I am am happy to be a member!

The wife and I are thinking about the SPort Trac, but I found it a little sluggish.

According to the Ford website its heavier than an F150 Supercab.

Your thoughts?

J-150,
The Sport Trac can come in 2 different gear ratios, not sure what the other is but mine has the 4.10 gears and it's pretty darn zippy! I love the feel and ride it gives me. I have hauled my John Deere Mower and other small house hold stuff and it handled well. Gas millage is 'ok' and it's really fun to drive. I am not sure, but I don't think the Super Crew is lighter than the Trac(Trac is 4,000 lbs); but I am not sure.
The Super Crew is nice, but it cost more and seems to me not as good looking. I think you would be happy with both, SC or ST. It's what ever you think; your pick. Anyway, the ST is the 4.0 SOHC which is what they had in the older Explorer models and in the 2002 redesigned Exlorer and Ranger; like I said, it will get up and go. I accelerate at about 2200-2500 RPMs and it stays in traffic. Just take a test drive in one with the 4.10's in it.

Take care ya'll!

-Josh

we just traded in my wifes EB...

explorer for a 2003 explorer...the 2000 EB had 3.72'S and I made sure that this one had 3.55 L/S..same engine...4.0L...now at 70 MPH it's turning 2000RPM...the 3.72 would run 2250 RPM at 70...I'm not worried about being hot off the line ...just keeping up with the big boys at the high end....like driving from Lubbuck to Dallas, down 114 in 4 hours and 30 minutes..365 miles

if they even crammed the 4.6 V8 into the Sport Trac I would buy it in a heartbeat.

They obviously can becasue they crammed it into the regular Exploder.

But seriously, the one we test drove was great. We really loved it. With a new baby we really need a back seat and as it stands now, we are sitting on the fence between a Supercab (not the crew) and the Sport Trac.
Tough call.

They can't fit the 4.6 under theST's hood, the chasis wouldn't allow... the 5.0 would, but it's gone and the 03 explorer's have been TOTALY redesigned... too bad..

Aaaaaaaah get em both, that's what I did . I've got the 02 SCrew FX4 and love it, just got the wife a 03 Explorer XLT Sport, has the 4.6, (IMHO the 4.6 runs much smoother and has better reponse than the 4.0) she had a GrandAm GT Sedan and liked it, but she loves this truck, especially since the last snow we got here
