Smile 03' Explorer fuel filter change "Help Needed"

Looked thru the stickeys & no information on this procedure. Changed my fuel filter on my 04' F-150 with the recomended tools, & had no problem. But my filter line on my 03' Explorer is problamatic in that it seems to be crimped on one side, of the line coming in from the engine. I don't think it looks normal to be crimped, & my removal tool can't really get into the space for the tool to operate, & ply the gas line off the round circle hump on the fuel filter inlet. The fuel filter is the original, as my miles are only 32000, so it must of came from the factory this way. I'm just plain stumpted. Any ideas out there, as I'm afraid the Stealership will want to replace the whole fuel line from the engine back to the filter $$$$.

There's got to be something on the explorer forums.

I know changing the fuel filter in my old mountaineer was a serious PITA, but don't think that's applicable to the new gen.
