93 Probe! CV problem
You need to pull the diff cover off to gain access to a spring clip holding the axle into the diff. Reach in with some long nose pliers, squeeze the clip and pull the axle shaft out. It could also be a C clip that you remove by pushing in on the axle and then pulling out the clip.
well i was hoping to not tear into it but it looks like i have to. it uses a spring clip and seems to be holding on for dear life.
my thing is i didnt know transaxles differentials seperated from the trans?

this may be a dumb question, but did you remove the lower ball joint or whatever in order to make room for the axel to come out? what i'm saying is that it won't flex enough to come out without seperating some part of the suspension.
that wasnt the end that was stuck stopper. its the other end which is much more valuable. or was.
i cant press the shaft out of the carrier even after splitting the transaxle and using a 20ton press... im blown away by it.

hmm FYI to anyone that happens to stumble across this in the years to come. the reason my cv would not pull out or even press out was the CV had bottomed and swelled inside the carrier. so even if the snapring collapsed, the swelled end of the shaft would not.
