4.6 3v

Went looking at 05 mustangs at ford lots this sunday, saw a black gt convertible, 42.000 Cdn with a 5sp, nice and expensive, hope ford dosent out price the mustang like gm did with the transam/z28.

the dealer sticker said the engine was a 4.6 3v, from my ltd. understanding, this engine will pump out close to 300 h/p

my 04 f-150 with the 5.4 has the 3v heads as well and I do not understand why ford did not go 4 valves per cylinder, nor do I understand this electronic throtle control thing and variable valve timing concept.

the ford 500 tarus look a like has a 4.0 v6 with 24 valves ( I think) why put more valves in a small displacement engine
and not a 4.6 or 5.4.....I had a 97 f-150 had a 4.2 basicly the same block .that waz a steller truck, Than I bounced to a chevy...

This truck is ford's last chance to impress me, I had a 2002 f-150 4x4 scab bought new that was junk junk junk, took a spanking on it, owed more than it was worth and FordCredit was the only credit agency still willing to deal with me.

I tradded a perfectly good z71 for, the 02 f-150....any how my 04 is not spectaculer but it's been trouble free no vibe problems, gets good millage and is the cat's *** as a work truck, More power is requested, this 04 is no light kitty, if thier are any great minds out thier who can answer my above questions on thye 3 v head, let me know, thanks.

why should they have goneto a 4v head? where is the benefit?

trcuk engines and car engines are 2 different beasts altogether.

well, tell me the advantage of a 3 valve head over a 4 valve head, two intake and 2 ex. valve sounds more uniform and truck and car engines are not all that different, ...truck engines may be detuned for less high rpm and more low end grunt but a ford v8 in a car or truck is gonna be the same motor, you missed the point of my question: what is the advantage of a 3 valve head in a 4.6 or 5.4, also the 3v head is gonna be in the 4.6 truck engine, the 5.4 and the v10..
