Explorer A/C Question

My wife drives a 2003 Explorer and whenever the A/C is on, the cold air blows out of the front vents as it should and also the defrost vents on top of the dash. It seems to me that something is not switching over properly?

This seems wrong to me, as I have never owned a vehicle that does this. But, the dealer says that it is operating normally??

Does anyone that has this same truck have the same thing happen?? Maybe that is just how it is, just seems odd to me.....

Thanks,

Shrek

My wife now drives an 04 explorer. When the A/C is selected out of the front vents, it doesn't come out of the top vents. It does come out of the bottom though. Only noticed that because I was wearing sandals.

We have an '02 and it does blow about 10% out the defrost vents...I would guess for those humid mornings when the wind shield wants to fog up from the inside
