I have a 2002 Explorer XLT, 4.6, Auto, 3.73 LS. It appears to be stuck in 4wd. (Don't laugh, with the Control-Trac its not as cut & dried as you would think). At road speeds there is a noticable whine. I just wanted to through this out for comment before I take it to the dealer. I took it there when it was still under warrenty & was assured that it was simply the Control-Trac doing its job.

 

If it's in 4x4 , that should show on your dash list and tell you what range its in as well...

I played with the button and backed up, stopped and did it again and mine came out after being stuck for 10 miles in 4 low...
