I put a Flowmaster 10 series Race Muffler (straight through Design) and cut out the back two cats!

Loudest truck I've ever heard at WOT!

for a grand total of $170 bucks you can have a Nascar Craftsman Truck Sound!

I have some pics in my gallery if you guys are intrested in seeing the muffler and turndown.

So far the Check Engine Light has not come on and I am guessing its not going to. It's been over a week now. I was hesitant to cut out the back two cats, These are the bigger ones not the little pre-cats. I was worried that the Check Engine Light would come on and I would have to buy some MIL Eliminators ($90 fix for mustangs and other cars that run long tube headers or Off Road H-pipe, it plugs in to the sensor and tricks the computer)

But so far she's been good to me! And boy does she turn heads!

Sounds like I got a Big Block running straight Headers!hehe

Well maybe not that loud but damn near close!

V8SilverSTX,

Now all you have to do is find a muffler shop that will chop out those back (larger) cats and boy.....she'll purr like somthing right out of Roush Racings Garage!

Silver,

It it the pic or does your tail pipe stop right at the axle? If so, why? If not then the picture is playing a trick on me.

For Adam

Hey nice setup, just was wondering two things
1. did you just disconnect the harness from the o2 sensors and leave them hanging or what (I want to do the same thing).

2. Is that an aluminum driveshaft? Looks new, where did you get it?

That's one rusty aluminum D/S. Since his truck is fairly new it hasn't had the time to get covered up with rust.

Mine has an aluminum drive shaft, and it came with the truck.

OK OK OK, I didn't read Chrisely's post well enough. He refers to Adam's truck, not the pic in the post.

Sorry Chrisely, didn't mean to jump on you with sarcasm.

Now that Ken mentions his Aluminum D/S, I got curious. Went out to my truck and low and behold, I have steel (very rusty too). Now checking Adam's, SilverSTX's and knowing what Ken has, I've concluded that the regular cabs got the steel shaft while the extended ones have aluminum. Any other ideas?

Truthfully Simoli, I was told it is a weight thing to meet the mpg for the Carb (California Air reaserch board) cetificate for light duty trucks, just like the aluminum hoods. I don't think the fact that the S/Cab is 17 inches longer has anything to do with a stronger d/s, The Mack truck I drive has a steel driveshaft, and it has a little more torque than ours do.

1. I had the back two (larger) Cats cut out. The 02 sensors come into the pipe right after the Cats from what I remember. I don't remember the guy ever having to do anything with the wires so I'm pretty sure they stayed connected since they didn't actually feed into the Cat.

2. I think someone else answered this question, my truck came stock with the aluminum driveshaft....added bonus from Ford!

My truck has run great so far with the Cats removed, it made it 3 times louder and I feel alittle more umpf when I press the gas! I was scared at first to cut them out for fear the check engine light would come on but so far its run flawless. It doesn't seem to be running rich or lean either so I think it was a well spent $40 to have them cut out. I plan on getting a superchip micro tuner for Christmas (if Santa....my wife) is good to me this year. With that I can make sure it's not running to lean and ajust the air/fuel mixture. Also advance timing, and recalibrate for them 4.10 gears I hope to have in for my Birthday.....(if I'm lucky)

All this and some Steeda underdrive pullies and a Mac Cold Air induction and I will be moping the floor with Hemi's all day long!

Good place for mods:

www.steeda.com <-----Best underdrive pullies on the market
www.macperformance.com<-------Cheapest and one of the nicest looking Cold Air Intake Systems around
www.mustangsunlimited.com <------Best price on Gears!
www.Superchips.com <------Probably get the micro tuner from www.troyerpeformance.com

Good Luck chrisely24 with your exhaust!

I want to rip my cats out, BUT, being a new car, unlike my 74 Nova I think I'd have a hard time getting it past inspection!

Perhaps its time to take the cats out and use a water jet to hollow them out

Why do you think your truck might run a little lean after the back 2 cats where removed?

Correct me if I'm wrong, dosen't the front 2 sensors control the air/fuel mixture, and the back 2 just tell the computer that the cats are working properly. If the 2 precats are left alone shouldn't the air/fuel mixture stay the same?

Thanks,
Travis
