Question Door Panel Noise

I have a 99 F150 SC with about 7200 miles on it. About a week ago, I noticed a rattling type noise coming from the passenger side door. After further investigation, I noticed the door panel near the speaker had a little play in it allowing it to vibrate against the metel door whenever I hit a moderate size bump. Now the same noise is coming from the driver's side in the same place near the speaker. Is there an adjustment to tighten the door panels to keep them from rattling?

Don't think there is an adjustment for this. However, here is an easy way to fix the noise you have described. Remove the door panel, then take some felt stripping and attach it to the metal (where it is rubbing) with some double face tape, and reinstall the door panel. This should take care of the noise. I had the same noise on my drivers door, it was very irritating.

Michael,
Thanks for the info. How difficult is it to remove the door panels? By the way, what type CD changer do you have and how well do you like it.

civbuff - the door panels are VERY easy to remove. you will need a 10mm socket and a small screw driver ( just for the point)
you will notice that by the door handle there is a small cap - remove this and it will reveal the bolt, you will need at least a 2" reach with the 10mm socket. the door handle then is remove . next pop out the panel that holds all the window and door lock switches. then remove the wire harness on each switch.
now remove the sail panel and the panel at the other end, they are held in by clips so just get your fingers under the panel and gently pull the panels off. with these removed ,
you will notice on the top of the door panel are 2 round clips ( one on each end) just use the screw driver or other small tool and push the center piece in untill you hear a clip, this will loosen the clip and you can then easily pull them out. ( to replace them - reinstall it STILL with the center popped out, when its in the hole just push the center to clip it back in. now you are ready to remove the panel .... just carefully LIFT and PULL towards you.( best to lift from the bottom of the door panel) Best of luck - sorry if i overexplained - better too much info than not enough.

I have an intermittent rattling in my driver side door. It only occurs sometimes at different speeds and if the road is smooth or not. The sound is hard to describe - kinda like paper being rustled in a box I guess - it is very faint but annoying. What kind of sound are you guys hearing?

CUL8R,
Thanks for the info. I will give it a whirl this weekend and see if I can modify to reduce my rattleing problem. Again, thanks for your help.
