Rear window leaking

I got my truck about 1.5months ago, a few weeks later after a hard rain I noticed the rear window leaked, seems to drip inside around the middle at the back edge of the headliner. The ford parts department said they didn't sell a seal for it, that the place who fixed them just used some generic stuff. They also said it was a problem when 97s came out.

So how do I go about fixing it myself?

It's the sliding window.

Thanks

Hi, thousands of posts here on this.
The 1997 thru 1999 factory rear slider frames crack. Sometimes rightside sometimes left sometimes middle. Ford changed frame during 2000 model year.

Most of the threads on this are old and don't help with a fix, just screaming about warranty repair/replace.

Basically, you need to remove window and apply sealant.
Probably best to let a glass shop do it unless you are very handy or very poor.

here is an example:

p.s. Mine started leaking at at 37,000 miles but, before I could address it, it stopped leaking by itself.

Just like Raoul said, it's a VERY prevalent problem and there are literally thousands of posts on f150online that talk about it.

The sad thing is that it's been a problem for NUMEROUS years and, only in 2002, did they figure out that they needed to redesign the rear sealing system on the glass.

I have to take my 2001 SCREW KR in for a rear glass replacement SOON (before the warranty goes bye-bye).

Good luck. I'd recommend having a glass shop do it but, I'm not 110% what all is involved if you do it yourself.

I know I've heard of folks installing the power sliding rear window on their own and claim that it's a simple 'bolt it in' type of job so, it maybe something that you can pull off on your own.

Again, good luck!

I didn't like the seal on my 2000 F-150 so i had them replace it i see on my 2002 that the seal is completely diff & fits the frame alot better.
