Question Mirrors - Not matching!

Hello! I just got my P/U last nite, in the doggone dark. Today, I noticed that the mirrors are different! One is chrome, one is "color-keyed" to match the truck! Whats up with that? It's brand new! Shouldn't they be uniform? One or the other? The chrome looks nice, because the bed has diamond cut instead of the cheap black junk... Any suggestions for when I complain to the dealer??

Thank you for your replies... I feel like a heel when I talk to the dealer. They had to go out of state (only about an hour and a half away though) to get my "ordered" rig. They basically did a search of my requirements: 2000 F150 XLT Styleside Supercab, V6 or V8, 5 speed. They found it in MS, (I'm in LOSEiana) and it came in 2 days later. They make me feel like I got such a great deal, who am I to complain?! I wanted the 60/40 seat, but they only had Capt's chairs with the console, and it has a CD player, and diamond cut trim on the TOP of the bed. The kid that washed it threw away/ate/took/whatever the window sticker, so I can't verify the invoice/msrp/equip with what I think I should have. The salesman seemed to be pretty cool, and he gave me a copy of what the other dealer faxed him in regards to the invoice. MY salesman says that since we agreed on $21500 out the door, that THEY were actually losing $$. I will ask for them to fix the mirrors, and give me my flippin' floor mats... I don't care how much they claim to have lost in the deal... I PAID FOR IT! Overall, I am very satisfied with my truck. I just hope I don't get the cracks and mirror probs I have heard so much about. I didn't get the sliding rear window but I plan to upgrade, so I won't have THAT problem....

Thanks again....

Claudia, with over 3500 members, there's someone from every state and Canada so you have to be careful about how any state is mentioned.

(Don't worry about Canada though, as they do not have nuclear capabilities)

Before it was available here in the states I used to go to Canada every other year for vaction and would bring back what ever I could because I developed a taste for the stuff. Hang overs were another story.

Ok, Ok,.... I didn't mean to offend anyone... For the record: It is MY PERSONAL View that it should be spelled the way it sounds when SOME people say it, and that would be "Lose-iana". Sorry if I offended anyone.

Cool

Here's the deal. In dealerships you have what we call a "misbuilt" unit. I just got done with an Eddie Bauer Expedition with leather interior. It came from the factory with one cloth seat...at least it was the right color. Ford is the one that replaces your mirror. The dealer loses no money. They contact Ford as to the misbuilt unit and they bill ford for parts and labor. They wouldn't sell a vehicle losing money. They're full of it. It's hard to explain, but they can actually sell below cost in some cases, saving all the fees for every day the vehicle stays on the lot(trust me on this one). Ask to talk to the general manager. They should be more than happy to "fix" your truck. It is most likely impossible that they will "really" know what mirror to put on (it's only the panel anyway), so you should be able to coerse them into the chrome or whichever you like.
Good luck.....and tell them a ford mechanic told you this. (see signature)

Sycoholic,
Thank you very much for your input. I think I'm gonna go w/ the colored mirrors. Man, I love this truck!

Claudia,

My salesman told me a a mis built they received, it had running boards on one side and mud flaps on the other! The truck ultimately ended up with both installed, and the sticker reflected the mud flaps, so the lucky person who bought that one got the running boards for free!

As to cost, Ford pays the dealership a dealer hold back on every vehicle sold. On F-150s it's 3% of the MSRP, regardless of the price you pay! So, say the MSRP is $20K, the dealership makes $600 whether you paid invoice or full price! It gives them plenty of wiggle room! I bought my 99 at $500 under invoice, and they still made $200 on the sale! I've never know them to loose money on anything!
