Tailgate weep holes

Yo!

This summer, I've done a lot of landscaping. Moved many loads of dirt, and mulch.

I've noticed that the mulch will sometimes get stuck in the tailgate locks, and cause them to jam. Repeated begging, cursing, and wiggling of the tailgate will eventually unjam the locks.

What I'm concerned about, is clogging the 'weep holes' at the bottom of the tailgate. Don't want water/crud to build up inside there, and block the holes, leading to rust.

Should I be concerned? And if so, how would you suggest some preventive maintenance on my part (aside from getting my son in law to schlepp the dirt/mulch in the back of his truck?)

Smile Simple

Take the upper cover off of the tailgate and flush the hell out of the thing-- I do it all of the time!! there is 8 or 10 (I think) screws holding it on.
