1998 F-150XL rear cab window
1998 F-150XL rear cab window
Im wanting to replace the rear window on my '98 F-150XL with a rear slider window. Ive looked in my Haynes manual and that is not covered. Does anyone know where I get the "How-to" information on the net or anywhere else? Any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

Gary,
It is believe it or not fairly straight forward but it requires a good deal of patience.
Basically:
A) remove the seat back
B) remove the headliner
C) remove the bolts that hold the window in (10 if I remember correctly)
D) Using a putty knife work your way around the window seal all the way around until you know you have completely pierced the seals integrity.
E) Gently but with determintaion, push the window out the back.
F) Clean the entire seal area with mineral spirits or suitable solvent
G) Get a good window adhesive at a body shop supply house
H)Apply the entire tube of sealant in a thick bead.
It should be evident how to install the new window at this point.
Steps D & E are the tricky ones.
Step H is the important one. These windows like to leak.
