How hard is it to install a billet grille on a 2002 f-150 xlt supercab? Keep in mind I've never done anything with the body of a vehicle other than installing rain gaurds on the windows. I'm looking into getting one next weekend. Also, I see a lot of them with the oval ford emblem placed on them. Do I use the oval that's on the truck now? And how does that go on? I hope it comes with directions!

I just installed one about a month ago, I have the same truck as you. I got a stull grill, came with pretty good instructions. The only semi-hard part was clipping the plastic tabs off and then sanding them down, becareful that you don't scratch the outer part of the grill guard.
Also, I'm pretty sure that you can use the oval from your original grill, I didn't put one on at all, but I looked at my old one and it is held on by a couple of screws in the back.

Just as LARM says. The stull is pretty easy and comes with great directions. I found it easier to score each of the grille tabs even with the grille with a utility knife a couple times and they snapped off flush with the grille. Only had to go back and trim a few with the razor edge. Careful drilling the fiberglass support as you dont want a bigger hole than needed. Otherwise its a easy install. I believe there is also a step by step install on the SVT boards, do a search on Billet grille on these boards and a link comes up on one of them for it.

I have another question...I'm going to order the Stull grille this weekend, but I'm confused on what the difference is between a 'grille' and a 'grille insert'? What one am I looking at? Thanks again.

It says 99-01....I have an 02, I'm assuming it will fit on the 02 also?

Thats the one I ordered also. Just give Summit a call and they will tell you if it fits the 02. I don`t see why not as there were no changes in the grille at all.

Besure that your positive on the grille that you want. I just had one installed on my F150. I chose to have the Billet grille without the oval and I really do like it. They do make both grilles, one with the oval and one without but I'm sure that you know that......Good luck. Tom from Dearborn

 

How come nobody on Earth can show a video on how to install a billet grill on a 2004 Ford f150 heritage? because there's a thousand videos out there with the Ford F-150 grill being attached to the hood but there's none out there where the grill is attached to the front of the truck. Mine don't have tabs it's all one piece. Can anybody give me a video on how liquid grill is attached to the actual grill frame please?
