Angry Major frame problems

Anybody had experience with frame straightening on an F150? Mine is 99 S/C and I was rear-ended by a small car (separate topic under General Discussions) at about 35 MPH (I was stopped) and now the right rear of my bed is 4 inches higher than left! Plus, the truck is 2 inches shorter now thanks to the frame and bed "bending" sort of like an accordian.

Has anybody had experience having this type of damage fixed? I'm afraid the truck will never drive the same no matter what....

FordLover,

I had the unpleasant experience of buying a previously wrecked F-150. Mine however had been slid sideways across a curb or something bending the frame sideways as well as all of the bodywork it had. It had been severely damaged. The important about the frame is thrust angle and that should be much easier to fix from a rear end collision as opposed to a front end collision. Just make sure the thrust angle is within spec, take it to a good alignment shop to have it checked after the repair.

Don't accept it unless it is like original condition!! If they can't get it right lobby for them to total it.

After reading the your post in "my baby got rear-ended", I would have to agree with 4drThunder and demand that the truck be put back in to original condition. That is what insurance is for, to restore condition and value of the truck after an accident. If it is that bad, push them to total it. Gap insurance comes in handy in times like these.

FordLover,

Bummer, I feel for you! All the posts are right on. Don't accept the truck if is not to your complete satisfaction. My last truck was also hit from behind. After three weeks I got the truck back, washed, waxed and looking good. A week later when I was washing the truck I noticed overspray by the back window and in the door jambs. Not real noticeable except when your detailing the truck. I was too late to take it back, I had already signed for the truck.

Moral of the story- go over the truck with truck with a fine tooth comb and microscope. If I isn't in the shape is was in b-4 the accident then don't sign off. I wish I would have even noticed the overspray on my truck.

FordLover, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. But I agree with everyone else, if it's not perfect, keep on them. In your defense, most accidents at 35mph the vehicles are considered totaled. So the fact that they are working on yours I guess is a testimony to how good the F150 is. But that fact put aside, if it's not like it was before, don't accept their work. And again, I'm so sorry you were hit.
