How the h*ll do you remove the upper dashboard???
How the h*ll do you remove the upper dashboard???
I've been at it since yesterday. I've got everything off the dash except for the steering wheel/column. Instruments are out, passenger airbag is out, glove box removed, top of the dash, every visible screw I can find.
The ****** thing still is fastened somehow on either side right where the dash ends at the doors in the side vent area. Something is holding the ****** on and I can't find any more screws.
Whoever the engineer was who designed this part of the F150 should have his damn *** ripped off!!! I'm ****** pissed. This has to be the most awkward goddamn stupid *** dashboard of any vehicle to remove completely.
Believe it or not... the upper dash is one entire piece that runs across the top, around the ashtray, glovebox... freakin everywhere. ************!
BTW ... all this **** just to install some MB Quart tweeters flush in the top outsides of the dashboard.
Ford ***'s! Any suggestions?

ps. the Haynes manual is a POS. No detail whatsoever. It just says..."remove all fasteners". Ya... whatever.

I figured it out.
There is one hidden screw only visible after removing the door seal on the side of the dash with the driver's door open. There are another 2 screws on the passenger side.
Then there's one bastard screw holding some black support plastic behind the area just to the right of the passenger ABS switch.
Basically there are hidden screws ALL OVER THE PLACE. God knows how they assemble these things quickly in the factory. What a total pain in the a$$.
I don't think I'll be finishing this till the end of NEXT weekend. I'm just going to slap in the driver's seat and instrument panel if I need to drive it. Believe it or not it drives just find with all the guts taken out of the dash.
If anyone has a "real" shop manual for this procedure I'd love it if you could email me a pdf or jpeg copy.:o

Here's what it looked like before I drilled the dash for tweeters:
I would recommend you not go this far unless you've had some practice on other vehicles. It's one heck of a "lego" set.
I did the dynamat in the doors and installed the MB Quart woofers after this pic. I still haven't got the back seat in yet but have the amps, EQX, Epicenter on the rear floor for testing purposes till next weekend when everything gets mounted under the back seat (there won't be any room left when I finish).
