Arrow Rattle Rattle

I am not sure where I should post this, but here goes:

Every time I run over a crack in the road, a bump, or anything else I can feel in the truck I hear a little rattle. It sounds like something relativly thin, and light weight. There's no THUMP or anything. I wouldn't be concerned with it, but its annoying! Has anyone else experienced this?!
I've crawled around under the truck, poked, lightly knocked with a socket extension, and sprung (like a rubber band) everything I can find that looks like it could make noise. I am not sure what else to look for now....

If anyone can help I would GREATLY appreciate it!

Thanks,

Robbie

If you have a plastic bed liner like I do, its most likely that..
open your rear slidding window if you have one and drive away and you'll see its probably comming from the center of the liner near the rear window...
At least, thats what it is on mine...

No this is metal ratteling somewhere - not plastic....the sound is too tinny to be plastic.

Is your truck a 4x4?
I had a similar sound that was coming from a guard on the transfer case it wraps 3/4 of the way around the front drive shaft at the U-joint. it has only two "Tabs" attaching it and one of mine had snapped. I had it welded and reinstalled it. I was able to duplicate the noise by bringing the RPM's up with a foot on the brake.
I had a broken leaf in my spring pack that surprisingly enough caused a tinny rattle.
Good luck

Check your spindle nut retainers behind your front wheel centers.

I figured out what it was - there is a small strap around the upper two leaf springs....it seems the rubber spacer fell out leaving space for the band to move around. IS that band nessesary? Or should I try to put a new rubber peice under it?

The exact same thing happened to me. Mechanic said that the clip keeps the leaf springs in line and suggested replacing it. I chose not to at the time, and that was about 25,000 miles ago. I guess to put your mind at ease, you might consider replacing it.
