Question Driver/Pass. Window removal?

Anyone have any advice on door Window removal replacement?
I want to tint my windows and I'm sure I will get better results in a controlled environment.
I've had the panels off several times, and I,ve removed the window trim/seals, but I've never noticed how the window is fastened to the track.
Any help before I get started this afternoon will be much appreciated.

Forget it....I had the same thoughts as you and removed my drivers window to tint it.....it was a pain in the a**. Getting it back in was worse, and I ended up with scratches on the outside in the glass, and a major scratch in the tint on the inside. I ended up stripping that tint off and re-doing it. Get a big piece of paper and use it as a template. Cut it to fit the window perfectly and a little longer than you think you will need....use this to cut out the tint...cutting just a little bigger than the pattern so you can trim it as necessary...better to start too big than too small. Trim about 1/8 to 1/16th inch at the top for a finished look. This method worked for me. Friends can't tell that I did it myself.

Just to add.....I did remove the windows from the rear doors to tint them.....I didn't want to have to try to trim around the hinges and latch...they come right out with just a phillips screwdriver and a square headed bit.

You had me scared blkF150 as I read your post I had 1 of my windows leaning on my desk beside me.
I just returned in from the reinstrallation and all went well. It helped to have a second set of hand to hold the window in up position as I aligned the tracks and rolled up the mechanism.
I did remove the lower portion of the trim/seal.
To answer my my own question the window is pinched into 2 short (2 1/2") track sections and is bonded with silicone.
Thanks for the other tips! You must have gone pretty dark, I was just trying to match my back windows and keep it legal. (35% in MO.)

I am glad all went well for you! I am sure it turned out great and probably like me, you saved a some cash too. Tint shops told me $60 just for the front two...I did all of them for $50 and a couple hours of my time.

You are right, a second set of hands would have helped me a great deal, but none were available. I did go a little dark, 20% all the way around...with the factory tint on the back windows and my slider, that comes out to less than 5% on them. We don't have state inspections here in OK anymore, and that was the only place that I ever heard of that gave anyone trouble for their tint....of course, minding your manners on the road will keep the police from looking twice at you or your tint.
