paint defects

After polishing my F150, i noticed what apperaed to be a large run in my box. I have a step style box, its right beside the step closest to the cab(passenger side). and directly under the step it appears they forgot to finish painting it.
Now i notice the drip rails on the roof are cracked all the way along the edge. along with litttle spider web looking things in the paint.

go to the dealer they look at it send me to theer body shop, this loser!!! informs me the spider cracks are my fault! poor maintance.
the cracks along the roof are just fromn the body flexing and not worth fixing.
its only a truck!!
contacted ford themselves and they tell me its up to the dealer and body shop to decide, but they didnt like what they told me about only being a truck, she was supposed to call this guy soo well see...

im going to a different dealer this week to see if i can get this fixed.
oh ya my truck is a 99 with 30 000 miles on it and its waxed monthly.

is your factory warranty out yet? i see your not over 36000 but since its a 99 it all depends when you bought it. if its still under bumper to bumper warranty then you shouldnt have a problem with them fixing it. they might try to give you a hard time but they really dont have a leg to stand on if your factory warrany is still in effect. good luck and keep us posted.

Thumbs down

I have those cracks along the drip rails on my truck too. And it's a 2001. And the paint on my doors looks like an orange peel. And if that's not enough, after I drove my truck home from the dealer, I found a pretty good sized ding in the passenger's side of my bed. Sorry for the rant, but I needed to vent.

Ford's paint sucks!

The left front fender on my new lightning has some hazy white **** under the clearcoat, which someone said was water droplets in the paint...won't rub out. Just a couple small spots, but should not have passed inspection. The rounded rear corners of the side/bed also seem to have very thin paint on them. And of course, the orange peel is all over.

Get a clue, FORD!

Well guys went to a different dealership, the manager came out looked at it, said well thats not good, go to our paint shop have them look at it.
so i speak with the body shop manager, he looks at it, and well heres what he said:
1- cracks on roof- poor paint quality, hafta strip it down and redoe it all (roof that is)
2- pass side box-poor repair - from factory- need to strip the entire side of the box and redoe

Sent this out to ford for there approval

3- spider type cracks on hood and bumper- ocne again quality issue with the paint- submitted another estimate to fords

So now i hafta wait till a ford rep comes to look at the truck and i guess he has the final say.

I"m thinking if there gonna repaint half my box, the roof, hood, and front bumper, its gonna look stupid, they should redoe the entire truck.

Well my fingers are crossed on this one. I"ll let ya know what happenes

You truck is pretty new and the only problem you would have with the old paint is oxidation. If they paint the rest of the truck and the new panels look different because they are shinny, then get a pro detail to buff the rest of the paint on your truck to remove the oxidation. It'll make them all look pretty close.

Kicker Panels.

My paint on my kicker panels on my truck have nearly lost all there paint... Do you think this type of thing is covered under warantee?? I also noticed that it looks like they repainted my left side rear because it has some edging which looks like they didnt even take the trim off... If you ask me thats a ****ty job... I have an appointement to get some of my truck painted by a local body shop... But I was wondering if Ford would cover this...
