i have a 97 s/c,bought new and had just this month saw the door cracks, took it to the dealer i bought it from and got the blow off about the doors. well tonight i sit down and write bill ford and then i,m gonna wait a month,if i dont hear anything,a lawyer friend of mine said he,d send a letter of inquire to ford and see what happens. his suggestion was to tell some of the tv jackels who do the consumer news about how wide spread the problem is and take them to this web site so they can see for thier self and see if the've got the ***** to take on one of the big boys about it. said the national boys would get wind of it and would probably run with it considering all the hoopla about the explorer and then like a snowball from hell ford would start to backtrack about. so the plan is this 1.write bill ford directly and ask for a response and make it civil and straight to the point with details how the dealer treated you and your disatisfaction with the turn of events. 2. send clear and focused pictures with your letter,two per door will do. 3.do this on june 1 so that as the letters from all over the country arrive at the same time at the mailroom at ford it will set off the alarm bells 4. wait thirty days and on july 1 send another letter again asking for a response. 5. on july 15 call your tv station and tell them about whats happening and how it,s a national movement going down 6.keep copies of everything and be prepared to produce them when the cameras come calling. if ford ignores it after all this then ill see you at the chevy dealer aug 15 and we'll flood the market with traded in fords with door cracks and ford will have a problem trying to get rid of the new ones. i myself am not at all happy about how ford is treating us as we send in our hard earned greenbacks to make them fatter cats than they already are,and to sit and do nothing more than to grip about it on this web site is a waste of time. once again its time to stand united. send your replys to this thread and ill download it and send it in with my letter.lets hope ford isnt cracked up to be what it appears to be,just another corperate giant who doesnt give a **** about the little guy, but then i may be just fooling myself .

 

good luck... i feel your pain , ford is screwing alot of people with not fixing the door cracks. warranty or not they caused the problem so they should fix it........ 2000 f-150 5.4l 4x4 xtracab 3.55 ( no cracks yet)

 

Boy your dealer must be a Jerk! I bought my F-150 SC 4x4 three weeks ago used form my dealer with 83 thousand miles on it. I noticed the door cracks about a week ago after reading about them on this forum. I printed out a folder full of information from both this forum and another and was armed for bear. I made the trip to the dealership, told them of the problem and their response was "ok when can you give up the truck for a few days"......Thats service. I didn't even need the documentation! The truck went in this Monday morning and I picked it up last night. The cracks on both doors were fixed, both doors were completely painted and the truck looks perfect. The cost?.....$0


Both Ford and the Dealers are well aware of this problem and will fix it. Don't be discouraged by your dealer. If you don't get satisfaction there, try another dealership and make sure you advise the dealer you bought your truck from that you are going somewhere else. Also make it known that you wont be back for your next purchase.

thanks mike. tommorrow i,m going over to the other side of town to this other dealership and i,m gonna do two things 1. try to get my doors fixed 2. NOT walk out with a new truck(it,s so hard not too). i,m holding out for the new model 2004. maybe by then bill will get the r&d boys off thier a!@#$% and get it fixed
