I have a '01 Screw and I have noticed that my tailgate likes to lock on its own. This has become sort of a pain in the butt. Sometimes I can use the gate over and over with it not locking and then I will open it, close it, and five seconds later it will be locked. Am I missing something here? Is there someway of closing the gate that makes it lock also? Or is there a problem internally that is causing it to lock?
Any help is much appreciated.

 

I've got the same problem on my 2000 and I had it on my 97. Does anyone know?

 

i think i saw someone post that they sprayed theirs with wd-40 and it fixed it. i have also seen a kit from jc whitney that will connect the tailgate lock to your power locks in the truck.

 

Your wives are standing at the livingroom window with the tailgate remote having a little fun with you is all.

When you go to buy a new truck and are looking under the hood, the salesman takes the wife aside and explains 'tailgate remote'. It's not listed in the options and very few men know about it. Salesmen swear that this option closes the deal.
(and you thought she let you get it because she loved you)

Don't let on that you're on to them. It's one of the few joys they have in life.

 

My cousin had the same problem with his... run a search for dmarman on here.... about a year ago or so... not sure how he fixed it.
