99 Front on a 97?

Does anyone know what exactly is required to put a 99 front end on a 97 f150? Is there a big difference? Has anyone done this? I think Roush Racing f150 did this. The reason im wanting to know if it can be done is because im wanting to put a wings west front end but am told it will only work with the 99 and up....help!!!

LoCo,
I am almost positive this is possible. I checked into it myself a while back, but I was just wanting to put a '99 front bumper on my '97. When you say "front end", are you meaning just the bumper or the whole front cap (grille, etc.)? Either way, it will work. Keep in mind that a '99 and up front bumper has a 'dip' in the center, where the grille extends down past the bumper line. If you keep your '97 grille, you'll have a gap between it and the bumper, which might actually look cool. If you have access to it, though, I'd go ahead and swap the grille piece too. I'm 99.9% sure that all mounting points are the same. And people would think you had a '99. Your truck sounds nice, and I hope some of this helped.

P.S. I never put the '99 bumper on mine, so I don't know what is involved in removing/replacing one. I'd found one off of a '99 4x4 with factory fogs, but by the time I had the money it was sold. Anyway, good luck!!

You will have to replace the grill along with the bumper!

I did this on my old '97. You will need a '99 grille, bumper, bumper brackets and some new plastic "air deflectors" that go on the bottom of the grille between the bumper and grille. I put on a '99 Lightning grille and the XLT fog light kit. Good luck.
