Has anyone experienced defective factory paint on his or her truck? I have a 1999 Black & Silver Lariat with 31,000 miles. I just noticed the other day while waxing it what looked like tiny lint fibers on the paint. I tried wiping them away and noticed they we permanent. I ran my finger over them and noticed that they were tiny "fractures" in the paint. When I waxed the roof, I found the problem much worse. In some places there were star like cracks. I took it to a local body shop to see what they thought. They said it is what they call "Checkering" and it's definitely a paint flaw, probably caused by improper Primer paint. I'm taking it into the dealer next week since its still under warrantee! I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this? I also have the infamous “Door crack” on the driver side, which I’ll address to them as well!

 

I have a few spots that look like trash in the paint and a spot under the right taillight that looks like the paint gun "splattered" some paint. These are only noticable when you are really close (like when waxing) and I'm not going to have anything done to them now.

 

Bet the truck is a KC build!
