Anybody have any experience with fiberglass hoods from Cervini's? I'm thinking about making that the next mod on my baby.

Was it strictly a bolt in deal or did you have to modify anything?

 

Bolts right up. You take the harware off your hood an put it on the Cervini's. The only thing you won't use are your squirters for you washers. They supply you with the squirters. They look like the old style tube types, they don't work as good as our stock ones, but work nontheless.

 

F-150 Ram Air,

I sure do like the looks of those. Do they come painted or do you have to get that work done yourself? I've got deep wedgewood blue...Would they use that color? I can't really tell if yours matches exactly...

I was noticing various places on my hood where some road rocks have done their damage, and was thinking I'll just save up until I have maybe 5 and get it detailed out...But hell, maybe I should just take the money I would pay a paint specialist and get a whole new hood!

It comes in a white gel coat. You have to get it painted. The gel coat is for protection and prep work. The body shop will have to prep the hood to be painted. The gel gives you that base to work with. My hood matches perfectly.

 

Did you also get a clearcoat layer put on too? Do they have real holes in them? I mean, what if I don't want a ram air system, just want the look? I don't want gaping holes that rain water can splash in whilst I'm driving...

 

Is on every hood they do. It's not like a special order. The holes are open. They working on a working ram air kit for it. They have screens to put in there, or you could make up your own type of solid screen. I left mine open for the air, it'a place to suck in air, plus when sitting a place for heat to escape. You don't have to go with a ram air hood. They cowl hoods also. Go to www.cervinis.com and check them out. As far as rain. Rain won't hurt anything. Believe it or not my motor stays pretty clean, it doesn't splash around in there.

What's the diff with the cowl hood? It doesn't really show it at the website...Is there a physical look difference?

BTW, this is definitely the coolest mod, in my opinion. I really have no mods, other than a roll n' lock and some nerf bars, oh and a wind visor on the hood...I want something that people can see (you can't see a chip). Besides, I'm happy with the truck's performance as it is anyway. Also, every truck owner on the face of the earth seems to have a lift (if they have a physical mod at all), but not everyone has these hoods on their truck. In my mind coolness involves a certain element of differentiation...
For instance, I can see by your pic you have a reg cab (me too). Seems like EVERYBODY has an extended cab....Reg. cabs look so much better, IMHO.

Click on the link I provided, at the top of the page in red letters, it says "search for parts". Click that, a parts page will appear. Scroll down to truck parts, an look for 91-01 Cowl Induction hood. The page will load and have three hoods on it. Check it out. The cowl hood is completely different than the ram air.

 

Ram Air, did you install the hood? I have noticed that most of the aftermarket glass pieces are a bit oversized and require some work to get the panel gaps back to near factory clearances. I was thinking of going with the cowl hood.

 

The body shop I deal with(who's also a friend of mine)did the work. When you purchase the hood, the body shop will bake the hood before anything is done. The reason for this is shrinkage. To cure them if you want to say. Then they test fit the hood, then prep, an paint. I've gotten at least 5 hoods from Cervini's. Everyone fit with no problems. They're the best fitting fiberglass hood out on the market in my opinion. They fit just like a stock hood. If bent up your steel hood as it sits now, an buy another one to replace it. You would have to play with that hood also to fit. But you won't play long. I brother-in-law got the same hood as I got. I took it to get painted, picked it up an installed it ourselves. We put that hood on in 15 minutes. We got it in one shot. What's that say. Lucky? I'd say that was part of it. The hoods fit that good. So, you go from there. I hope this helps you out.

 

Just a couple more questions if I might. How much additionally is the color matching and prepping for the hood?
