Tailgate step
Can the OEM 'rear step assembly' be added to a tailgate that did not come with it from the factory?

I don't think so. I think it has to have a tail gate that has a place for the assembly.

If the truck is the same body style as one that was available with step, then the whole t/g could be swapped with a junker.
