I created a custom tailgate badge for my 2009 F150 FX4. The OEM badge/emblem fell off and left my tailgate looking sad. After looking into getting a replacement badge I was disappointed to find out that the local Ford dealership wanted $80 for a replacement. I figured I would try my hand at making my own custom badge and boy did it turn out SICK!
I've got nothing but compliments from everyone who sees it. They keep asking me where I got it and they don't believe me when I tell them that I made it myself.
I've had enough people ask me to make one that I decided to make them available to anyone who wants to customize one. Basically, it is a 3D printed badge that I custom painted.
I've also put together a quick Youtube video to show people how I made the prototype. Note: I originally used a low resolution 3D printer. The Sendai Design (Shapeways 3D printing store) version is high resolution and will not require the amount of sanding that you see in the video. You can check it out here:
