I'm not doing a flame job exactly, I'm doing some jagged stripes... I haven't got any bids yet as I'm still working on the final design, but I expect to spend 2-3000. I'll be repainting the front "cowl" (trim surrounding the grill and headlights), the grill, the hood then the stripes, as well as some body work on the passenger side where I scraped a pole. They'll also be painting my EGR flares I've got sitting in a box...

Yep,they do cost quite a bit because of the labor and time involved. That price sounds a little steep but not by much. Here are a few ideas, courtesy of the TX Heatwave

I don't know what it would cost but there was a black Chevy around my town at one time that had what I think they call a "ghost" flame job on it. Looking directly at the side you could barely make out the flames but when the sun hit it just right or looking at an angle the flame job jumped out in full metallic color. Definitaly one of the coolest flame jobs I have ever seen.

We were going to paint the HD with flames. We were actually only hours away from getting it done when my brother backed out. He couldn't decide weather he wanted to paint a harley. What do you think. We had a price estimated at around $4000 cdn. and about 75 man hours. Which isn't bad. Were still considering but he can't make his mind. I think were going to do it over the winter.

i know what youre talking about. i know a guy around here with a camaro and hes got ghost flames on his hood, and they look great, its almost like you can only see them from certain angles. i want something that stands out a little more for my truck, though.

One of my classmates has a Chebbie S-10 with the flames like that... It's actually a pearl clearcoat that goes on the top... I love the look! It's real subtle unless the light catches it just right. Looks real smooth....
