Unhappy Out of warranty out of luck?

Have just returned from my local ford dealer after requesting the preventative "B" fix for my doors. I was unceremoniously handed a print out of the TSB with the final words highlighted. In short, it says that the fix would have been done under warranty at no cost but since I'm out of the warranty they would still do it , but for 350$.

I know the warranty is over but I only have 18,000 miles and would like to nip this in the bud before the door cracks even begin. BTW, I happen to think 350$ is a decent price...... if it's for both doors, but it really burns me that Ford never even attemtped to notify the owners when they knew it was happening to all of us. It's because of a flawed design that these doors are cracking and I had nothing to do with that before, during, or after their sacred warranty.

I'd like to hear advice frm others in here who have been past the warranty and gotten theirs fixed. Should I call Ford Customer service or maybe try different Ford dealerships first in the hopes of finding one that'll do the fix? I need to get a game plan together and would appreciate your help.

Thanx in advance.

The bad thing is, i've talked to quality care several times and they say they don't know anything about the door cracks. I'm having a hard time getting mine fixed...the drivers door is already started to crack. Ford cotacted the dealer and requested they fix it, the dealer refused to do it so i'm out of luck for now. gonna try another dealer though.
