It's Luke from El cajon. I need some help.

I ran into a kid at a tire shop who wanted to sell me some ford lightning parts. I followed him to his house and he ended up just giving me a flareside tailgate shell that had damage in the bottom right corner.

I pounded out the metal and now it looks good enough.

Flareside tailgates fully loaded around here go for about $300-$350.

Finding just the internals at a yard could take a while.

THE QUESTIONS

Couldn't I take the center and side latches, and handle (everything but the cables) from a regular cab and only have to purchase the cables new.

Could the cables from a gen 8 (87-96) flareside truck work in a gen 9?
