Possibly need replacement bed, where to find?

Took a lil deeper look at rust issued in bed of my 99 ext flareside and the bed supports(perpendicular to frame) are kinda rotted too. I hate to get a replacement cuz the rest ofthe bed is in GREAT condition. However, I'm not sure it can be repaired.

So question is, wheres the best place to look for a good bed?

If the rest of the bed is in great condition, you should be able to buy just the floor section of bed from FOMOCO. Although I have never seen one, but over the years, i have replaced outer skins, inner box panels, front box panels, and tailgate area panels, all on separate jobs of course. I see no reason why the floor section would not be available, unless it is discontinued. Would save you the cost of painting a replacement box..... maybe a little spray in liner, and you're laughing.

You will need several strong friends to remove and flip the box upside down with out damaging anything..... but it is totally do-able. Got any pics of the rust?

If you have the skill set to replace a major panel such as the floor then going with canadianelbow's idea would be a good idea. I have not ever seen a floor panel on a bed replaced before. Like him I have seen plenty of outer bed skins, complete bedsides and what not replaced. If you or someone you know is not familiar with doing these types of jobs I would not recommend even attempting to go this route.

I can check and see if the floor panel is still available and what the cost on it should be if you like. Just let me know and I will check next week when I am at work.

I think a used bed assembly would be the way to go in this case. Much easier than replacing a floor panel in my opinion.

Try this site:

www.car-part.com

It will allow you to search by you zip code so you can see what salvage yards closest to you have the bed. If you are really lucky you might find one in your color.
